The Joseph kids (Connor, Caroline and Catherine)

The Joseph family - Karen and Kirk

July 21 - 29 First a Missionary trip to Bolivia and now to Guatemala. Our paths go way back. In 1991, we got a call in Bolivia from our mission pastor at NBC, Art Lang, mentioning that a young flight attendant had some vacation time and wanted to spend it with a missionary family. Art recommended the Stewart family. Even though we were recuperating from hepatitus, we talked with Karen over the HAM radio and told her to come on down. She enjoyed her "missionary experience" and even returned the following year to help with the child care during the SAM conference. Gary and I flew up to attend her wedding in 1993. We have stayed in contact ever since.

Karen called us several weeks ago, and said "I would like to expose my children to the mission field and what missionary life is all about". We said, "Come on down". The Josephs were with us a solid week. They joined in our activities as we did Pastoral Care with the CAM missionary family. The first day, we headed out to Patzún to visit the Spaughs and the Conners and their work team from Tulsa. What a neat experience to see 11 year old Conner start playing soccer with the young boys.

More later.
