JBU Reunion in Guatemala

Last week, we took the Adams and CAM intern, Katy, with us to the JBU alumni and Walton students reunion at the local downtown hotel. It was fun to connect with old and future JBU students.

"I am the Resurrection and the Life."

CAM has a burial plot at the Central Cemetery in Guatemala City. There are CAM missionary babies buried here along with several CAM missionary parents.
Last week CAM missionary, Pauline, passed away after a long, hard battle with cancer. Pauline was deeply loved by the missionary and Guatemalan communities.

Pauline was very creative. She painted many pictures and played a number of different instruments. One year for CAM conference, I remember Pauline played a song on a set of musical bells (Cow bells). She would also play different tunes on clay pots.

When we would go to her house or to her office for a short visit , Pauline would inevitably ask how we were doing when we clearly were going to visit her and check up on her. Towards the end the most we could do for Pauline was Glenn would take a hot pot of water and foot lotion and would gently message her feet. That was a comfort to her.

Continue to pray for Pauline's husband and 2 adult sons, a daughter in law and grandson. They will deeply miss her.

Happy 1 Year Anniversary

A year ago today Thomas and Karen tied the knot! What a beautiful bride and handsome groom!

Happy Anniversary!

Quote from one of my favorite movies, "Fools Rush In", (and I've heard Karen quote this several times).

"You are everything I never knew I always wanted!"

Karen, Don't forget that your top piece of the wedding cake is downstairs in the garage refrigerator at GrandMommy and GrandDaddy's house. Enjoy!

Happy Anniversary you Two.

My Friend Kathy

I cross stitched this project for Kathy several years ago. The verse suits her well. "to be content with any state I'm in". Kathy and Ron move yearly. Ugh.

Recently I got to visit my dear friend, Kathy Shea. I worked with her in 2002 for a few months. She is one of those type of friends that you can "pick up" where you left off before. Last time I visited with Kathy she lived in the DC area - that was 3 years ago. Kathy is a close friend. She prays for me.

I say "Kathy, since I've been to visit you several times over the years, its time for you to come and visit me in Guatemala." And her response is "Ohhhhhh, J-u-d-eeeeeee!" That is interpreted, "No way am I going to Mexico!". I keep telling her I live in Guatemala.

Thanks Kathy and Ron for your friendship and prayers for us!

Antigua, Guatemala

Sherrie and I spent a few hours in Antigua. Not long enough. There was a down pour, so we took cover in the Don Rodrigo courtyard while the stormed passed. This is rainy season, so the rains come quickly and daily.

Shopping & the World Race Team

So, we go walking up Santander Street to purchase some touristy items. Of course we are bombarded with gals that want to sell us stuff. Normally they shout out "Buy from me. I give you good price!"
Then Sherrie runs into these young people, a part of the World Race mission team, and we bring them back home to feed them "left over" Mexican Casserole. They loved it! They enjoyed speaking English to some "gingos". This group of young people are just beginning their journey around the world. 11 Countries in 11 months. Just 2 years ago, we met up with some other young people here in Guatemala with the same organization doing the same thing. For more information, go to www.theworldrace.org
