Tuk Tuk Problems

There is always a way to repair your local Tuk Tuk vehicle.  At least they are not very heavy.

Cooking With Wood

Can you imagine having to collect and carry fire wood like this?  When you have to cook all your meals, which, three times per day include tortillas, you have to go to extreme measures.

Wood you like to do this?

Annual Camino Guatemala Conference

Over the week-end, Glenn and I participated in our Annual Camino Guatemala Fellowship Conference. Andy enthusiastically encouraged us from the book of Philippians, challenging us to experience joy in the journey in spite of our circumstances.
This year, the conference was held in the quaint and colorful village of Antigua. For some it was their first time attending. For others, they have been a part of the annual conference since the 1950s.
We were blessed with plenty of delicious food, marimba music, beautiful weather and lots of informal time to just relax and visit. We experienced rest, fellowship and encouragement!

Trekaroo

We had the fun opportunity to connect with new friends.  The Pang family has just completed 2 months of language classes and volunteer work at the YWAM base in Ciudad Vieja, near Antigua.  We opened up our home for a long weekend so they could rest and explore Guatemala City with us.  This family is adventurous and will be traveling through Central America over the next several months.

Check out their blog post.  Both LiLing and Brennan operate a Travel Web-site that is geared to family travel.

What a Shock!

On March 2nd, we received word that Benjamin, a young Peruvian missionary, while riding his bike home from his Bible Study, was caught in a cross-fire and died along the side of the road.  Our hearts were broken. The missionary community has witnessed this young couple mature and grow in the Lord.  Several of our co-workers have had both Benjamin and his wife in their classes at SETECA, one of the seminaries here in Guatemala.  Also, Northwest Bible Church in Dallas has had a ministry here for over 10 years and have sent teams down to help with this ministry.

My friend, Sarah, along with her husband, John, served 2 years in Guatemala with the ministry in Rio Hondo.  She eloquently wrote her feelings and I think it's worth sharing.   {with permission} Click here to read Why?

Christy and Her Team

Recently, Glenn and I had the fun opportunity to connect with a dear friend and prayer warrior for the ministry here in Guatemala.  We met at Santo Domingo Hotel for a buffet Brunch.  It was delicious.  We talked a mile a minute to catch up on life before Christy continued her responsibilities of supervising the youth from her church, Fellowship Bible Church, of Northwest Arkansas.  They were here serving at Casa Aleluya.
