Hurricane Stan effects on Santiago, Guatemala

Hurricane Stan reeked havoc on the small community of Panabaj, outside of Santiago Atitalán, Guatemala. Notice the waterline marks on the abandoned hospital. That is not the shadow. Mud and Water reached this high.

Oct 10, 2005 , the Guatemalan Indian community, Panabaj, was hit by Hurrican Stan. 384 people were listed as missing. Houses were crushed from the sliding mud.

The mudslide from Hurricane Stan, literally covered the valley, and thousands of Guatemalans lost their home, their land, and their livelihood. There were homes just washed off and several hundred people lost their lives.

The small community received "temporary housing"

This was supposed to be "makeshift" and "temporary" yet people are still living here after 3 years!
