Special week with Grandkids

We enjoyed 6 days with the grandkids which included Annie's baby dedication, and special "Grammie/GrandDad" dates with each grandkid.  David got to go to Elevate and jump and jump and jump.  Emily and I went shopping at Tuesday morning with Letterboxing and strawberry Sundae at Culvers. Lucy ran errands with us and had pizza in the park and little Elizabeth enjoyed Dunk'n Donuts and a walk in the park.   Emily and Lucy helped me bake cookies.  We watched Amazing Race and our favorite YouTube channel of KaraandNate   Pretty fun week!

We nicknamed her Magnolia

We drove 7,873 miles in our used RV
June 29 - Oct 17, 2020 - 111 Days
3,813 miles in the little Scion
11,686 total miles on our bodies
Stayed in 31 different camp/RV sites/friends' yards & driveways, etc
Glenn downloaded the Scion 27 times
Visited with 50+ friends, family, and supporters
Drove thru 19 states
Enjoyed a week in our friends' cabin in Colorado and a timeshare in Arizona
Visited many national parks such as Big Bend, Yellowstone, Zion, Glacier, Grand Teton National Park, and many more
and found 15 letterboxes on our route.

We were amazed at the divine appointments that we had all along our journey.
  • Making special connections with friends along the way.  Truly a God thing!
  • Special RV road trip with Ellen and her 4 girls  yes that is 7 in our RV for 1 week
  • A week in our friends' home in Frisco, Colorado with Ellen, Luke, and family
  • Several unexpected meetings with friends who were also traveling
  • A week of on-going Pastoral Care training at Avant headquarters
  • A week in Glacier National Park and unexpectedly meeting up with old friends
  • Several opportunities to reconnect with retired missionaries in TN, WA, & ID
  • Changing & canceling our itinerary to California because of smoke and fires
  • "Boon-docking" in several Wal-Mart parking lots
  • Bicycling with the grandkids in Colorado
  • Amtrak train ride through Glenwood Canyon - check that off my bucket list
  • Marshmallow S'mores with the grandkids
  • Weekly and continual Zoom, Facebook, email calls with missionaries
  • A few days with my sister Sherrie and Steve in the Pacific Northwest
  • Driving on the Bonnieville Salt Flats in Utah
  • Hiking through National Parks
  • Regular Zoom meetings with missionaries in Guatemala and Honduras
  • Picnics, paper plates, and lawn chairs
  • Waiting for Old Faithful to blow
  • Walking up the "Narrows" at Zion National Park.  Utah is so underrated!
  • A week was given to us in a time-share to "give our wheels a rest".  Thank you, my friend.
  • A week at Big Bend National Park in Texas and looking up and seeing the Milky Way
  • Fires raging through Oregon/California and the need to change our itinerary
  • And the list could go on and on

Here are just a few of the 1,000+ pictures we took along the way.  Remember, it's just a FEW!

As long as we were able to connect to the internet at our campsites and make our Zoom calls, Facebook Live meetings, and do our correspondence, we were good to go. Several times the internet was lousy but we hung in there.

I am tremendously thankful for the blessings of being able to reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, spend time outdoors especially during this pandemic time, and the opportunity to share my faith as we took this 8,000-mile journey.  Thank you, Lord.  We are blessed. We are thankful.

What's Next?

Now as Guatemala has been opening up, we are getting ready to fly back home soon. We are currently doing the yearly medical check-up and tying up loose ends.  I'm working with a Neurologist and getting additional tests and MRI for my pinch nerves.

We do need to sell our used RV.  If you know of anyone interested, please let us know and we'll send the information along.

Again, we cannot express how grateful we are for the opportunity to work and serve creatively these past few months.  We have experienced God's faithfulness.

I'm so thankful that we were able to spend some one-on-one time with the 4 oldest Rosenberger kids.  This gave Ellen and Luke some time to themselves after the quarantine was over the past few days/weeks/months.

The kids were well behaved, respectful, and obedient. In summary, Lucy learned how to ride a bike, we ate at El Fenix, played with new toys at the guest house, and also learned that a 15-hour ride in the van to Texas isn't all that bad.

I love my grandkids
