This is my last MBI Alumni Board meeting. It has been a wonderful ride. The time has flown by so quickly. When I joined in 2003, I had already served for 1 year during our furlough year back in 2000. During my time on the Alumni Board, I served as secretary for 3 years. I have orchestrated over 30 alumni gatherings while serving on the alumni board. I had the privilege to attend a dozen Moody concerts in conjunction with the gatherings. It has been a blast to be able to be a part of the board while Ellen was a student and now while Karen is here. What a blessing to be here while my friend Michael was president.
George Verwer. What a man. He served 3 years with me. What a man of prayer. I would occasionally look over in his direction during some of our board meetings and see that he was praying! What a spirit. Students would flock his direction when he would walk onto campus. He is such an inspiration for missions.
Nancy, a God send. What a servant. I just love Nancy. Nancy is a part time worker, but does a full time job. She is a project coordinator and does a great job. Even though this is the busiest time of the year for her, she doesn't let anything bother her. Now, I know that is not true, but at least she doesn't show it.
My dear friend, Gene. I appreciate his warm attitude and gentle spirit. He and Elaine are dear friends. I only wish I could have meet them years ago. However, I appreciate having served on the Alumni Board with Gene for 1 year, before he was promoted to the Trustee.Board. Many times I called Gene up to seek his advice on different issues. Glenn played racquetball with Gene back when we lived in Texas and Glenn says "He is a real gentleman on the court, however an excellent player". Gene was our speaker for the 2008 annual CAM Conference in Guatemala. He was well received and loved.
