Meet Natalie

Natalie is one of our newest missionaries here in Guatemala.  She is currently studying Spanish in the small town of Antigua, just outside of Guatemala City.  She has been here for 3 months.  And her Spanish is progressing very well.

She lives with a Guatemalan family.  She walks to classes daily.  Classes are from 8-12 M-F.  She is also involved in other activities.

Natalie has a deep love for the Guatemalan people.  After completing her Spanish classes next month, she will be moving to work in the small Kachiquel village of Chivoc.  Her assignment will be to teach English in the local public school.

One of our jobs as Pastoral Care givers, is to help Natalie in her adjustments to Guatemalan living.  Although she has traveled to Guatemala countless times as a teenager with her church from Texas, she is still needing some encouragement and accountability.  Natalie is a part of our team here in Guatemala.

Last week we spent several days with Natalie.  On Wednesday we connected with her after her language classes and took her out for lunch.  Joe's!  Natalie was ecstatic as she hadn't had an old fashion American hamburger and a pile of Nachos in a long time.  We talked about her adjustments, her plans to move in with another Guatemalan family and coached her on various subjects such as Guatemalan driving, safety, finances, etc.

On Saturday, we connected again with Natalie and she accompanied Glenn and myself along with another missionary gal to the Graduation Ceremony of the Guatemalan Bible Seminary in Chimaltenango, Guatemala.
This was definitely a cultural experience.

The ceremony started only 10 minutes late and lasted 3 hours.  It was a God-honoring service.
