To get from Michigan to Wisconsin we decided to take the Lake Express Ferry across Lake Michigan. We had just finished visiting with 5 families in the Grand Rapids/Holland area, so it made sense for us to across the lake instead of driving back down and through Chicago traffic. And yes, to let someone else do the driving for us. It was a good experience. I would recommend the Ferry.

I would recommend the Lake Express. It is seasonal, so check the schedule.
