Several weeks ago, Virginia and I made a "house call" to visit long time SAM missionary, Marge. Marge is such a delight to visit. Her memory is failing, however, when I visit, I throw out names from her days when she worked and ministered for many years in Peru and she lights up. She likes to talk about her Peru days.
Marge is now living with her oldest daughter here in Guatemala. And its a pleasure to pay frequent visits to her home. She has such a good attitude. She has been in the hospital several times this year for surgery. She remembers Spanish very well.
One of her favorite songs is "This World is not my Home". She truly is waiting for the Lord to take her home and sings this song with a smile on her face.
This world is not my home, I'm just passing through.
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.
- Chorus
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
If Heaven's not my home, then Lord what will I do?
The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.
Thank you for sharing this with us. We really Miss you Aunt Marge. Happy Belated Birthday! We Love you. From Ernersteen, Steve, Danine, Britt and Tristan Gruber
ReplyDeleteDear Judy,
ReplyDeleteI am Ann Henriques' daughter, Tammy Carrick. My Grammy has just passed away just hours ago and I remembered my Mom telling me about your blog and Grammy singing. This song was just what I needed to hear and see. Grammy has run into the arms of her Savior and she is where she has always wanted to be. She is safe and home.
Thank you Judy!
ReplyDeleteI am Marjorie's granddaughter - Tammy (who posted above me) sent me this link. This is something I will treasure forever! Thank you SOOO much. It will help us all as we remember that even though are hearts are breaking - SHE is rejoicing to finally be where she has wanted to be for a very very long time.
God Bless you Judy!
-Holly Watson
Greetings to all, from India. I am David, who is in a relationship with Holly Watson. I would also like to convey my condolences for the bereaved Watson family, on behalf of the David's family, from INDIA. May the departed soul of Grandma Marjorie, rest in peace. She is now, where she was singing about, in her eternal home, with Christ our Lord. I haven't had the opputunity to meet her, not once, but as a Christian myself, i can connect to her as one. May Grandma Marjorie, serve as a reminder of true faith, honesty and dignity to human life, along with pure and undiminished out pour of love of the Lord and Savior. With deepest sympathy.
ReplyDeleteDavid.
Thank you, Judy, for this very precious memory of "Aunt Marge," as we MKs who grew up with her kids in Peru all knew her. It is a blessing to me to be able to sing along with her and remember that this world is not our home!

Thank you Judy for this reminder of
ReplyDeleteMom's closeness to Jesus. She was a
wonderful mother and friend. I know
that she is at PEACE now. The last
few years were very hard for her and
just knowing that her pain is over is
good to know.
WE WILL SEE HER AGAIN SOON.
Her thankful son, Mike
Hi All. I'm Jon Watson, Mike's son. Grandma Watson was a key figure in our lives. Even though we were several states away for most of our growing up years, the stories of missionary life in the jungles from my dad made Grandma quite a celebrity whenever she visited, and inspired us to live a courageous life for Jesus. I and my family are very grateful for the legacy they have left us as an inheritance, which is far more valuable than any earthly treasure.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to joining that parade Uncle Bob mentioned someday, and to thanking her for her commitment to the God who loved us first, and called us His friends.
"I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth." 3 John 1:4
May all who come behind us find us faithful to this legacy.
I loved hearing that beautiful servant of Jesus
ReplyDeleteRepeat the feelings of my heart. I just spoke on that very theme at a care center a week ago and used that song.
My prayers for you, Bob and Ann and your family.

Marjorie is now rejoicing face to face with our beloved Savior. She has longed for decades to go be with the Lord, now she is her Eternal Home, PTL! No more pain and suffering
ReplyDeleteWhat an extraordinary and life-long servant of the Lord. In addition to serving on the mission field of Peru for decades, she later became a Bible Study Fellowship small group senior ladies' leader for a number of years. What a joy and blessing this ministry was to all her ladies. In addition she invested time and energy into her grandchildren that lived in Tampa, teaching them about the Lord and the things of the Lord. I am so grateful that she is the grandmother of my two beloved, now adult children, Holly and Daniel. What a joy to know her and have her be an integral part of our lives. Mary Watson
