As we were driving into Guatemala, after crossing over the border between Mexico and Guatemala we ran into traffic. I looked over at Glenn and asked "Is this Sugar Cane Season?" and sure enough, it was Sugar Cane harvesting season, which translated means that slow moving trucks will occupy the 2 lane road as they drive from the fields to the processing plants and back.
The last few hours on a 2 lane road were challenging to drive. No middle stripe in the road, no shoulder, very slow truck traffic and oncoming vehicles without headlights.We were also stopped in traffic for 45 min. as we waited for the police to clear the traffic because of an overturned sugar cane truck that was on the road and blocking traffic in both directions.
Oh, the joys of driving here in Guatemala.
