Worship Service at over 11,000 Feet

So, we take the free Shuttle service from Frisco, and traveled over to Copper Mountain Ski Resort with Ellen and Luke along with their 2 kids and picnic lunch in tow.  I had called ahead to Copper Mountain Community Church and found out about a worship service up on top of the mountain.  We just took the chair lift up.

The Chair Lift!

We decided that the guys would get on one chair and the girls go first.  The operators slow the chair lift down so we could gently slide into the seats.  And off we go. Ellen had baby Emily strapped onto her chest. We climbed 1,000 feet in elevation.  From the very beginning, Ellen and I were terrified.  Let me say that again.  Terrified.  The chair lift operator did not slide the bar down over our heads and Ellen and I were completely frozen and scared silly.  I was in tears. My feet were dangling down.

I did not take one single picture as we took the terrifying 15 minute ride up on an open chair lift.  Ellen and I were talking about anything and everything to keep our minds and eyes from wondering down to the tall pine trees below us.  I had never been more terrified in my entire life.  That was scarier than Summer Team Mountain in Bolivia or climbing Huayna Picchu in Peru.

As we got off the chair, knees shaking, the operator at the top said "oh, you could have pulled the bar down!"  Hello.

The Worship service in the winter time is held under this pavilion, but during the summer months, it is held out in the beautiful sunshine.

We had a short sermon and had some prayer requests.  Ellen volunteered and lead the singing.  Yes, we sang "Go tell it on the Mountain".

After the church service, we had a simple picnic lunch in the Ski Lodge.  Ellen and Luke decided to hike down the trail while Glenn and I had both of the kids and took the chair lift down and this time we pulled down the bar.  It was a much more comfortable ride.

Bike Ride

{Ellen, Grammie, Luke, Glenn and David (in Trailer)}
Last year, Glenn purchased this Kid Bike Trailer and now we were happy to have Ellen, Luke, and David join us for Colorado family vacation.  We took the Vail Pass trail down to Copper Mountain and then on to Frisco.

David loved the ride.

Colorado

Glenn and I had the fun time of getting ready for the family to arrive here in Colorado for a Family Reunion.  For Sunday, we decided to attend the church service at the amphitheater at Dillon Lake.  Beautiful setting.

We ran into Walt Baker, former Camino board member, friend of Camino and missionary statesman.

We received this wooden bear for having traveled the furthest for the worship service.  Go Guatemala!

Fathers and GrandFathers

 {photo taken June - 2013}

Glenn is my favorite father and grandfather
DadMarr is my favorite father, grandfather and great-grandfather

Nearly 2 years ago, Glenn became GrandDad for the first time.  My father, is now a Great Grandfather to both David and Emily, besides the 4 great grandson's from Rick and Beverly.

Nearly 31 years ago, Glenn became a father for the first time.  He took time to teach each of our kids how to do stuff, like ride a bicycle, type, and drive a standard shift Toyota Hi-lux.  He taught them how to play guitar, Morse code and how to wash dishes.  He had Gary helping him change tires and work on cars when he was only 2 years old.

 Now I see him in the "grandfather role", teaching David how to kick a soccer ball, shooting hoops with David, teaching him new words and pointing out small bugs that crawl on the floor. I love watching you interact and teach David new words, songs and interesting and useless facts.

Thank you Glenn, for your unconditional love, interest and commitment to our 3 adult children and now to our 2 little grandchildren.

 I love you more today than 33 years ago!

Happy Father's Day to Glenn and to my Dad!

Go Spurs!

David is obsessed with basketball!

{I know that is a soccer ball he is holding, but its a ball, and that is all that counts!}

Every time we would drive into Las Cristalinas, David would take a deep breathe and point to the 3 basketball hoops on the streets.  He's been like this since last Christmas, when he discovered Basketball.

GrandDad walks him down to the "hoops" and they have a little one-on-one!  6 year old neighborhood friend, Eve, was teaching him how to dribble the ball.  Cute.

Just wait for the 2032 Season, David should be signed with the Spurs by then.

Priceless!

First Officer David

As we were getting on the plane, he knew immediately where the jetway was, and started running down the hallway towards the opening of the airplane door.  He was greeted by some friendly Copa pilots. On our flight from Managua to Guatemala, David was our "pilot".

David was a good little guy on the plane and it did not hurt that the flight was only 55 minutes long.  An option was to have taken an 18 hour bus ride.

I'm thankful for the Copa/United miles that we used.

David loves to fly.  I guess he gets that from his "Grammie!"
