Popti Bible Dedication

Psalms 119:105
Your Word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.

Last month we participated in the Bible Dedication of the Popti Bible. The Stratmeyers, missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators, spent their entire lives living and working with the Jacaltec people who speak the Popti dialect in the small villages of Jacaltenango and Concepcion, near the Mexican border.

We met up with a delegation of folks from Metropolitan Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and others.  Jean and several of her adult children flew down from the states to participate in this awesome achievement and celebration.

The full day of activities included a parade through the village of Concepcion, Guatemala.  It was followed by a Bible Dedication ceremony right there on the main plaza.  With the catholic church as the back drop, the plaza was filled with the Mayan group of Popti speakers.

Finally, they have the complete Bible, the Word of God in their own language.

Several people from the community came up to the platform to thank the Stratmeyers for their years of dedication of this Bible translation project.  The Boxes of Bibles were handed out to several organizations including large denominational churches and organizations.  Praise the Lord!

What an accomplishment!  Praise the Lord for His faithfulness!
