Our Heroes

These retirees in Tahlequah, Oklahoma must have a combined years of service on the mission field of 1,000 years.  Not too shabby.  These folks pray for us and are intensely interested in the ministry that they served with for so many years.  Yes, they do pray for us.  They are our prayer warriors.

I sometimes jokingly say "These are real missionaries".  They lived without electricity, worked on Bible Translations, served on staff at the seminaries or radio stations and their churches.  They sent their kids off to boarding school (that's what you did 'back in the day").  But the underlying thread of their lives is genuine prayer.  They lived by faith.  They worked by faith and they believe in the power of prayer.

a few snapshots

Back in 1972, I received my missionary call in the home of Stan and Barbara.
  What sweet folks.
Glenn stayed with Bob and Donna in Panama in 1976 on his bicycle trip to Colombia
We serve with the Spaughs' son in Guatemala.

I am truly blessed to know that these folks have served the Lord tirelessly and continue to serve in their local community and most importantly they believe in the power of prayer - for which I am grateful.
