The Calm before the Storm
Time Flies. In the past few weeks/months, we have
* said "goodbye" to Grandpa Stewart
* held a memorial service (Thanks to those that shared with us...It was Beautiful!)
* moved Grandma Vi into a 1 bedroom apartment
* helped find a more dependable car for Grandma Vi
* processed the needed paperwork for Grandma Vi
* worked on taxes (Glenn did that...and most of the above)
* drove Gary back to JBU and participate in Parent's weekend
* returned back to Guatemala in our Pastoral Care job
* visited with Lois from Canada work team (her husband died just 1 year ago, and it was good to reconnect back with her and help the team get to the airport
* Attended Intermission Conference in Antigua
* hosted several families in our home
* connected with many of the CAM families here; prayed for them
* hand made Karen's wedding Invitations
* visited with CAM folks here - listening and encouraging them
* worked on final preparations for our CAM conference (March 28 - 30)
* wrote 164 personal notes to answer the Christmas notes and correspondance
* organized Ladies craft project for conference (card making)
* sent out monthly email update to the CAM Guatemala folks, just keeping them in touch with everyone
* made and mailed Birthday cards to the CAM missionary community for the month of March and April
We are in the final days of Conference preparation. The Annual CAM Guatemala Conference is being held in Antigua, just about 45 min. from our house. Our goal for the conference is to have each CAM Members feel appreciated, loved and prayed for and nurtured in the Word of God. We have Dr. Gene Getz and his wife, Elaine, from Dallas here, bringing the messages. Because the CAM field has changed drastically in the last 18 months from a "retiring field" to a "new family field", we are having 2 couples come from our supporting church in E. Texas (First Baptist Church Liberty City) to help with the youth program and child care for the 17 kids/youth we have now. Just a few years ago, there was only a handful of MKs on the field, now we are busting at the seam. One of the couples will also be leading us in our worship.
So, do pray that we can encourage the CAM missionaries. We have put together nice gift bags full of goodies, books, candy and little stuff, so hopefully that will put a smile on their faces and encourage them in their journey.
I'll try to post my blogs more regularly again.

Hey! We love reading your blogs and learning some of the goings on in Guatemala that we have to look forward to. We are going to be in Guat this June 24 - July 4 for a trip with our church. We will be there a few days before the group gets there to visit with the Footes and try and meet other CAM people. We hope to be able to meet you guys.
