Balancing Act

Man, you have to have good balance
 to ride a bicycle over cobble stones
 and uneven pavement with one hand,
 all the while carrying a stack of plastic crates
 on your shoulder with the other hand.

Literally, a Chicken Bus in Guatemala

A chicken bus (Spanish: "camioneta de pollos" or "trambilla", the latter a hypercorrection of "tranvĂa") is a colloquial English name for a colorful, modified and decorated bus that transports goods and people between communities in various Latin American countries, especially Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Panama.
The base vehicle is usually a retired North American school bus on a light or medium truck chassis.

The word "chicken" may refer to the fact that the buses are often crammed with passengers not unlike a truck load of chickens,[1] or to the fact that Central Americans occasionally transport live animals on such buses–a practice that visitors from other countries often find remarkable.[2][3]

Thank You, Billy Graham

Thank you Billy Graham.

I'm thankful for the ministry of Billy Graham.  I'm thankful that we as a family participated with the Franklin Graham Crusade in Santa Cruz, Bolivia in 1999.  Glenn helped with various logistics, I helped with the VIP room, the kids worked by helping to hand out the Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes to Bolivian children and Karen even did the sign-language translations from English to Spanish sign language.

Then in 2002, I worked at the local BGEA office for the upcoming Dallas MetroplexMission (Crusade) held at the old Texas Stadium in October.  Glenn was the designated driver for many of the guest singers during that weekend Crusade.

Thank you Billy Graham.

He heard the word, he got the call,
he took the message to us all.
He said it so we all could understand.
Around the world, here at home,
he let us know we're not alone.
Oh, thank you, Billy Graham.

Just as I am

Just as I am
Billy Graham's Bible
John 3:16

Just as I am, without one plea
But that thy blood was shed for me,
and that Thou bidst me come to thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot;
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt;
Fightings within, and fears without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind;
Yes, all I need, in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, Though wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

40th Class Reunion at MBI

Glenn and I attended our
40th year class reunion
 at Moody Bible Institute this week in downtown Chicago.

We both graduated in the 1978 class, but never met until several months later.  I finished up in May in Chicago receiving a Foreign Missions diploma and Glenn finished up at the Elizabethton, Tennessee campus in July, receiving a Missionary Aviation diploma. 32 years later, we completed the additional hours and both graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies degree in 2010 (the same year as our daughter, Karen, got her degree).

We are so blessed to have received such a great Biblical education.

The Alumni Association coordinated a special 2 day event for all the folks who came to the reunion during the legendary Founder's Week Conference.

I'm thankful for re-connecting with former classmates of ours.  Here are some miscellaneous  photos.

Firm may she stand, tho' by foes of truth surrounded!
Riches of grace bestowed may she never squander,
Keeping true to God and man her record over yonder.

We also connected with Paul and Ruth, class of 1953!  It was their 65th year class reunion.  They serve with us in Guatemala.
