Clean Up On Aisle 3

While up at JBU, we were able to visit with Gary some.

Gary got a summer job at Walgreens!  Yipee!  This was perfect for his personality type.  He is helpful and courteous.  He works behind the photo desk.  When it is slow, he does "re-stocking" and clean ups.

What a great guy....Who would have thought all those years watching Isabel in Bolivia sweep and mop the floor, would pay off?

JBU Stuff

A couple weeks ago, Glenn and I helped with the
International student
  and
MK (Missionary kid)
Move In day.  We helped with registration, handing out directions, water and answering questions.

We helped with new freshman Move In also, 2 days later.
This was all followed by PAC (Parent Association Council) meetings.
This year Glenn and I serve as Presidents of the PAC.  We'll be helping out with Family weekend in February.

Our DTS Son-In-Law

Karen's husband, Thomas, is hitting the books again.  Today, August 19, he begins at Dallas Theological Seminary.  He is sooooo excited!  And we're happy for him too.

Karen has started a new job teaching high school students at 2 different Mesquite ISD schools.  She'll be teaching American Sign Language.  It is offered as one of the 'foreign language' choices.

123,456 Odometer Reading

As we were driving from Guatemala City to Panajachel the other day, we were just about 5 kilometers shy of Chimaltenango and we had to pull over and take a photo of our odometer.

123,456 kilometers which is the equivalent to 77,160 miles on our 2002 Toyota HiAce van.

Some little known facts about our van.
Auto Pilot
#1 is Guatemala Airport
#2 is Panajachel, Guatemala
The van does not have any heat
Although it is a 12 passenger van, Glenn has had 20 "gringos" in the van in Antigua.

Sharon and Pops

Last weekend we hosted Sharon R, for the weekend.  She is currently studying Spanish in Antigua, however welcomed the relaxing weekend in our home.  She especially enjoyed the opportunity to catch up on FB, blog and emails.
Besides visiting the Sink Hole we also showed Sharon the Relief Map.

Of course we had to introduce her to "Pops" icecream!  Can't get better than this.

Feel free (with permission) to go to her blog and follow her journey

Uno, Dos, Tres, Cuatro, Sink Hole {Cinco} Part 3

I guess we really didn't let this yellow tape stop us.

I was quite surprised that the police allowed us so close to the sink hole.
Even more surprised that they wanted their pictures taken.

Uno, Dos, Tres, Cuatro, Sink Hole {Cinco} Part 2

Going to the famous "sink hole" is now on our tour when we introduce friends to Guatemala.

On Sunday, we stopped by and asked the PTM (military police) if we could walk to the edge of the sink hole.  Obviously, the answer was "No", but then we asked if the kind gentleman would take my camera over to the edge of the sink hole and take a few shots.

Sharon, Brian, and Janelle enjoyed the special tour.
