We took a boat ride over to a private resort/hotel/hostel on our way to the village of Santiago. This resort is literally smack on the side of a cliff. Yes, there are lots of steps. The view is fantastic, overlooking Lake Atitlán with the 3 volcanoes in the back ground. There are about 10 private and/or shared rooms. The decor at Casa Del Mundo is very authentic. It is a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The landscaping is spectatular.
I would recommend the french toast breakfast topped off with a special banana, strawberry and pineapple smoothie. Its a "must".
