4 Letterboxes in One Day

We drove to EGE Airport to drop Scott and Barbara off and as we made our one hour return back to Frisco, we took our time and found 4 letterboxes.

Letter Box #1 

was located at a Rest Stop on I-70.  There was a Rio Grande Rail Road Car in the park.  It was a Great location and great idea for the letter box.

Letter Box #2

was also located in a Rest Stop on I-70.  We had to find it between the trees and under the rocks.

Letter Box #3

was located off of I-70 in Avon, off the cliff.  

It was very creative, as the letter box was in an old soda bottle.

The rubber stamp was in the cap of the Soda Bottle and the paper with the stamps was rolled up and stuck inside.

Letter Box #4

was located in Minturn, Colorado.

Minturn is a small but very busy town, as on this Saturday there was a bike ride with thousands of cyclists traveling through the town.  The Letter box was on the other side of the rail road tracks near the town cemetery.

I would say, 4 letter boxes in 3 hours is a very good find.  

This was a fun activity and we saw parts of the country side that we would never have stopped to enjoy.

Concert and Breckenridge

Every Thursday night there is a free concert in the park in downtown Frisco.

Scott and Barbara enjoyed some sushi!

Nope, not for me!

 

On Friday, we took the free Gondola ride in Breckenridge.

Then Scott, Barbara, Luke and Glenn rode their bikes from Breckenridge to Frisco.

Vail Pass Bike Ride and Chair-lift to Copper Mountain

 We enjoyed the Vail Pass down to Vail Ski slopes bike trail.

The scenery was breath-taking!

Picture time.

Made it to Vail, Colorado.

Then, we rode the chair-lift up to the top of Copper Mountain for some Bar-b-que lunch.

And then we rode back from Vail Pass through Copper Mountain and on to Frisco.

It was a very FULL day.  

'Twas a Fun day.

We got lots of exercise this day.

We were tired out.

Bike Gloves

Biking Downhill

This past week we enjoyed some days of relaxing activities here in the Rockies with family and friends.

We had picnic lunches at Copper Mountain.

 There is still snow on the slopes at Copper Mountain!

One day, GrandDad got David and Emily all geared up to go down the mountain with him.

We've enjoyed biking downhill most days.  Each afternoon, the rains come for an hour or two.  In the mornings, the sky is clear and bright and beautiful.

I enjoy biking from Vail Pass down through Copper Mountain and onto Frisco.  I take my time.  I stop a lot and enjoy the beauty.  I take some pictures and praise God for the time I can enjoy His Creation.

Birthday Boy and World Cup

Last week we celebrated David's 3rd birthday

 July 13.

He was one happy boy, opening all the presents.

 For some reason, David wanted a

 strawberry cake.

Then we watched the final of the World Cup.

I was pulling for Argentina, but I knew that the Netherlands could and would probably win.  But we had the grand-kids all decked out in their Argentina jerseys.

Animal Kingdom

Tuesday morning, we headed to Animal Kingdom.  Haley was very helpful in getting us in and giving us some valuable hints about the park.

 We basically did three things:

1. Lion King
2. Kilimanjaro Safari
3. Petting zoo

The little one (aka Emily), loved the petting zoo.  It was right at eye level.  She loved chasing the goats and petting the pigs.

And of course we had to eat a Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Sandwich!

We had a full day at Animal Kingdom.  The grandkids were great.  We took our time and enjoyed the few things that we did get to do.  We found the Infant Care Center and hung out there to cool off, change diapers and let the kids run in the play room. 

The only thing we didn't get to do that we had planned to do, was go to the Dinosaur  dig.....next time.

A Stroller, 2 Grandkids and a Spirit of Adventure

 Saying Good-bye to the parents as we begin a 10 day adventure with 2 grandkids (ages nearly 3 and 16 month old)

We're not young anymore.  Now I appreciate my mom (GrandMommy) so much for taking care of our kids 30+ years ago.

Both kids were very good on the 2 hour plane ride from Nicaragua to Miami, going through customs and immigrations and finally riding in a car up to Lake Worth.

We did manage 2 kids, a stroller, diaper bags and Immigration check-in at the Miami International Airport, all without an incident.

Sunday morning, we attended Jeff's church.

The best surprise was to reconnect with cousin Haley and see where she lives and works at DisneyWorld. 

David loved "goofing off" with Uncle Jeff.

David got to sit in the cockpit of the AA plane before we flew on to DFW.
