Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?

Chicken Buses
Why are they called Chicken buses?
2 Answers

1) Normally there are chickens with the passengers on board
2)  The bus drivers play "chicken" as they careen dangerously down the road.

When Glenn and I travel out on the road, we zip off a quick email to one of our supporting church's EMAIL Prayer line to pray for protection on the road, as we drive and dodge the potholes, pedestrians and pesky chicken bus drivers.

Buildings and Porches

Amos 9:11

In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up its breaches; and I will raise up its ruins, and I will rebuild it as in the days of old:

Caps, Gowns, Diplomas

Saturday, Glenn and I watched the 2012 High School Graduating class of Christian Academy of Guatemala march into the Thomas Gymnasium, walk across the stage and receive their diplomas.

It seems like yesterday we were celebrating with Gary - yet that was 5 years ago.

One Camino Global MK graduated.  Cristy S (grand daughter of Camino missionaries, Paul and Ruth P and daughter of Camino missionaries Fran and Judy S) will be heading to Toccoa Falls College, Georgia, in the fall.

Each of the graduates had tables where you could sign their book and see a display of a little bit about their life.

Our neighbor, Nic graduated too.  He is heading to California.

And Sarah A. (Grand Daughter of Camino Global missionaries, Wilfred and Shirley J) is heading to Moody Bible Institute.  Go Moody!

Dinner Invitations

The Invitation.  The Rehearsal Dinner Invitation.

This time I made each invitation unique.  Different colors.  I did a set of 10 invitations that were pink, green and blue, then another set of 10 with colors of mauve, green and brown and so forth.  Some I attached ribbons and or bows with brads.  Some I attached with the 3 dimensional backing.

It was fun making these and having a variety of colors and layout.

Live Feed

It is official.  CAM International is now Camino Global.  On Monday, May 21 at 2pm, the switch was official.  There was a big party at the CAM Dallas office.  Glenn asked if they could hook up a video feed for us missionaries on the field to watch and listen.

There was a season of prayer.  Two former presidents spoke about the legacy of
Central America Mission
CAM International
and now
Camino Global

Once we got connected, then Glenn hooked up the computer to our TV in the Den so we could see the party better.  Fun, fun, fun!

We are blessed to be a part of a great mission, now Camino Global.

Baby David {Part 2}

Ever since David was born he has loved the water, taking baths, swimming (kinda) in the pool with Dad and Grand Dad.

And now he has his own little kiddie pool.

Look how small this pool is.

We found an original Tonka Truck (metal and all) at a garage sale. David loves playing with his "new" Tonka Truck.

I'll Be There

Check out our latest video.

The music "I'll Be There",  represents a part of what we do in Pastoral care here in Guatemala.

We are here for the CAM (soon to be Camino Global) missionaries.
We rejoice when they rejoice.
We weep when they weep.
We listen.
We pray.
We eat together.
We encourage.

Baby David

 Part 1
While visiting Ellen and Luke over Mother's Day weekend, I tagged along with Ellen for David's 10 month check up.  He is a growing boy.  He got a shot and didn't cry.  I guess it must be his tough skin:).  He loved holding on to Dr. Mora's stethoscope.

David weighed in at 19.5 pounds at 10 months old.

Then he had to go get some blood work done.  Poor kid.
2 Needles in 1 day.

It took the nurse several times to get the blood.

Mother's Day in Nicaragua

This year I got to spend Mother's day with my oldest daughter, Ellen (29), and only grandson, baby David (10 months old), in Nicaragua.

What a special time to spend it with just us 3.  Glenn was in Guatemala and Luke was out on a youth retreat for the weekend.  We went to church, to The Diner for Brunch, had a long afternoon nap, watched an old episode of Home Improvement (Season 2) and then had Mexican Casserole for supper.  Luke and Ellen went out later in the evening and I was home alone with Baby David.  The electricity went out as the sun was setting, so we went to plan B to finish his bottle feeding and story time and went off to bed.

Earlier in the weekend, Ellen and I drove to a local mall to check out the store, but in  reality, we were wanting to duck into an AIR-CONDITIONED store to cool down.  It is HOT in Nicaragua.

David got lots of looks while we strolled through Las Americas Mall.

David loves water, so he enjoyed some time in his little kiddie pool.

I am thankful that I could
  • Spend the weekend with my daughter and grandson in Nicaragua
  • Have a 3 way conference call with Glenn in Guatemala and my mother at the lake in Texas for Mother's Day
  • Hear from all of my 3 children
All in all, I had a very good Mother's Day.

Grandmommy and Happy Mother's Day

My mom makes the best potato salad in the WORLD.
She doesn't cook much any more.  She has trouble remembering if she should peel the eggs, fry the bacon or what the Miracle Whip is out for, but her potato salad is
THE best.
I still love her just as much and even more!

Mom and Dad have been married nearly 63 years now.

4 Generations!
at Christmas
Happy Mother's Day.
